When I was in high school, I learned from the news that the world was facing food shortages while global arable land was decreasing, meaning humanity would confront an even more severe food crisis in the future. One day, as I was walking past a lush green paddy field, I watched the vibrant seedlings growing under the sunshine, about to yield grain to sustain mankind. A thought flashed through my mind: What if, when I grew up, I could invent or produce a device or mechanism that could fully harness the infinite power of sunlight? Much like the photosynthesis of green plants, it could rapidly convert raw materials like water and chemicals into the food humans need, such as wheat, rice, or fruit. Wouldn't that solve the massive problem of global food shortages? Driven by this, I decided right then to choose a biology-related major in college, hoping it might help me realize this dream. Regrettably, due to certain reasons, I was unable to enter that field of study as I had wished. Many years later, times have changed. Today, besides contributing my efforts to education, I have discovered another way to give back to the world. By developing and promoting mobile apps, I help breathe new life into spare and obsolete smartphones. Reducing electronic waste and cutting down on unnecessary energy consumption this is perhaps my alternative way of contributing a small but sincere effort to the world's green ecology.
